LED Lighting Upgrade Project
Street Lighting Improvements in Southampton
Enerveo is working on behalf of Southampton City Council to upgrade certain street lighting lanterns across the city.
Street Lighting LED Lantern Upgrades
Street lighting LED lantern upgrades will begin on
1st April 2026 and are expected to take approximately
nine months to complete.
What the work involves
The work will involve replacing only the lantern at the top of each existing column, with no digging or excavation required on roads or pavements. Lighting will continue to operate on its current schedule throughout the project.
Why these upgrades are being carried out
These upgrades are being carried out to:
- Improve safety by replacing ageing lanterns before they fail
- Increase energy efficiency through the use of lower-energy technology
- Reduce environmental impact with warmer white lighting that minimises upward light pollution
What to expect
The new lanterns will look similar to the existing ones but will meet modern standards.
